ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lebanese born, with seventeen years of raging war as the backdrop to his youth, Fady Kassab is an award-winning, multi-lingual comedian with a unique and utterly enthralling perspective to draw from.
Crowned 2019 winner of Australia’s most prestigious comedy competition, triple j’s RAW Comedy, Fady’s show-stopping performance was broadcast nationally on TV and saw him flown to that year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A prodigious debut saw Fady selected to feature in the Best of Edinburgh Showcase Show for the best and brightest of Fringe comics and go on to reach the grand finals of The Gilded Balloon’s esteemed, long-running So You Think You’re Funny comedy competition. His first full solo hour, Borderline, sold out shows and garnered critical acclaim at Australian comedy festivals. He’s been seen on the Sydney Opera House’s Digital Season, Humour Us, and as a writer and guest on Season One of Jan Fran and Wil Anderson’s quiz-panel show Question Everything (ABC TV).
A regular at venues from comedy clubs to arenas – both as headliner and as opening act for touring comedians including Jim Jefferies, Effie and Bassem Youssef, in 2022 Fady performed a killer set for Channel Ten’s Just For Laughs: Australia, while in late 2024 he recorded a spot for a new TV stand-up series, Jim Jefferies & Friends – set to hit televisions across Australia in 2025.
Crediting the traumas of war with fuelling his optimistic approach to comedy and life in general, Fady approaches topics delicately yet provocatively – speaking hilarious truths with dark undertones. With feel-good, joyous comedy, peppered with true tales plucked from his incredible life and delivered with a disarmingly cheeky grin, Fady never fails to pull a crowd in with material that cuts across a diverse and multicultural audience.
